G. L. Sheerin, like many fathers, was excited about the impending arrival of his newborn son. An information technology professional eager to pass on his love for computer science, Sheerin and his wife scoured bookstores looking for computer-related children’s books but were unable to
locate any. This lack of technology-oriented children’s books inspired Sheerin to create the Peter’s Packets Series, whose first volume, Virus Games (Synergy Books, April 2008), introduces children to the world of computer science in a fun informative story.

Leveraging more than a decade of computer science experience, Sheerin translates advanced technology concepts into an easily comprehensible language, bridging the generation gap between parents who can remember using a dial-up connection for the first time and children who have never known a world without the Internet. By introducing children to computer science at an early age, Sheerin hopes Virus Games will inspire a love of digital technology in a younger generation and encourage kids to consider careers in the computer and technology industries.
